More than a dozen species of animals will receive eggs, egg-shaped items and other Easter themed treats. Presenting the animals with unusual items is part of the zoo’s enrichment program. Enrichment activities stimulate the animals’ thinking and ability to “hunt” for food as they would in the wild.

Party for the Planet explains to families how simple going “green” can be by being environmentally safe and how by protecting the ecosystems we can help save endangered species around the world. As well as celebrating the planet, there will be the opportunity to meet and ask zookeepers questions, see endangered species demonstrations and a tour of our “green” building (the Zoo was Central New York’s first green building) and our habitat garden, which is the garden out front. That garden is full of native plant species and attracts a number of birds, insects, frogs and more.
Puppet shows, exhibits on being “green” and local environmental groups will have information tables. There will be games and activities for the kids as well.
